About Mercedes

Mercedes (Gail G. Oyer) is a multi-dimensional artist
capable of translating most any subject matter into a
masterful work of discriminating attention to detail.

Though currently recognized for her outstanding paintings,
earlier in her career, Mercedes was known predominantly
for her work with glass. Stained glass by Mercedes was
produced on a waiting list only basis.  Fused glass art
pieces were sold mostly through galleries. Mercedes' line of
woman's high-end fashion accessories featuring elements
of fused glass were marketed and sold to fine department stores such as Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue as well
as high quality boutiques across the United States.

Mercedes is a recent  'empty nester' and lives in San Diego, California with her husband and enjoys that the recent college grad son lives in San Diego area also.

These days her creative time is spent in the studio painting,  personally
adding detailed embellishment to her limited edition print offerings and in development of her very new card line and other products from the "Inspirational Reminders" mixed media portfolio of work.

Mercedes  offers a growing number of  Fine Art Prints.  Retail Prices for the Limited Edition prints range from $175 to $3000 while the new, small, prints that are not limited in the edition size from the "Inspirational Reminder" portfolio are much less.

The  price range for original oils by Mercedes is from $1,500 to $25,000 -  though large scale commissioned "Masterworks" by Mercedes such as her most recent "Balboa Park - Centennial Tribute" can cost considerably more.

I cannot remember a time in my life when I didn’t make art.  My pre-school recollections are of hours at a small wooden easel depicting ornate buildings of Chinese architecture.  It has always been a mystery where that inspiration came from.

As I grew up, with my mother’s enthusiastic support, I was allowed to paint all over my bedroom walls, floor to ceiling time and again mostly with what was currently on my mind.  During my teens, giant flowers and other cultural symbols of those times emerged which I proudly displayed to passersby through my open windows.  The epic conclusion to my creative years at home came when I was officially introduced into the world of design and given permission and the budget to formally decorate my room for the last time under the watchful eye of an interior designer. Those early girlhood experiences hinted at my artistic path ahead. Ever since, I have continued to explore and master different mediums, styles and subject matters.  Surprisingly, there has been nothing that I couldn’t do and I equally enjoyed everything that came from under my hands and from my brushes.  Every time I have finished a painting I was delighted and reassured that everything I desired to paint I could!  I have also, worked successfully with glass and metal.  It is almost like you name it and I did it! My teachers have told me that having such a versatile, multi-faceted talent would be a confusing curse to most, but not to me.  For me, it is a blessing that I choose to embrace, expand and explore to discover what uncharted territories it will take me to.  I invite my viewers to join me in this journey.
